The difference in growth speed, weed removal, and fertilizing could affect the growth response of plants. Knowing the growth response of kesambi (Schleichera oleosa (Lour) Oken), bayur (Pterospermum javanicum (Jungh.)) and jukut (Eugenia polyantha (Wight.)) in the imperata/alang- alang (Imperata cylindrica (L.) Raeuschel) land rehabilitation was the objective of study. The study was conducted in KHDTK Rarung in 2007-2009. Split-plot design was used. Treatments including
2 levels of imperata liberation and 4 levels of manure fertilizing. As many as 72 plots measuring
20x20m was established with each of 24 plots per species and 100 plants per plot. The results showed significant effect of fertilization on the height growth, while imperata liberation on the diameter growth of bayur. Imperata liberation had significant effect on the diameter growth of kesambi, while only the combination of the treatments affected the height and diameter growth of jukut. The first year was critical for the high mortality (up to 43-70%). Bayur was potentially used in the imperata land rehabilitation. The 2 years caring was enough for bayur and jukut, but needed more time for kesambi. Shade liberation needs to be improved at slow-growing species, especially on kesambi.
