Beberapa hama dan penyakit penting pada sengon (Paraserianthes falcataria) daaan teknik pengendaliannya

Paraserianthes falcataria is one of some fast growing species which is developed in man mode forest, community forest and social forest. this species is widely planted because of its easy growth and has many purposes. Similar to other plants, P. falcataria that is planted in monoculture system has some important pests and diseases problems. Some important pests on P.falcataria which often appear in the field include Eurema spp., bagworms, leaf eater: Ferrisia virgata, Xystrocera festiva and stem borer: Indarbela acutistriata, termite and root eater: white grubs. Some diseases found on P. falcataria include damping-off on seedling, black mildew, root rot and stem rot, however, so far they have not been a serious problem. Moreover, cancer diseases has been recently found in some places likes Maluku, West Kalimantan, and West Java in 1997. To solve pests and diseases problems on man made forest, integrated Pest Management (IPM) should be applied by using manual, biological, physical and or botanical pesticide as alternative control measures to chemical pesticide which should be used as the last control measure effort only when it is needed.
