Penentuan panjang seksi batang optimal daaalam pendugaan volume pohon Nyatoh (Palaquium lobbianum Burck)

Tree volume was estimated by dividing the log into sections. On that estimation, the length of section will determine the time efficiency. The longer log section will estimate the tree volume more rapidly. However, the longer log section also has less accurancy for the estimation. Therefor, we have to determine the optimum length for log section, which is maximum and still covered in the accurate range of tree volume estimation. The objective of thhis research was to determine the optimum length of log section for Palaquium lobbianum Burck. as a tree volume estimator. The formulas used for this research were the Smalian, Huber, Newton, Bruce and Bereton, a 1- meter log measured using Smalian formula was used as a control. The optimum length of log sectiondetermined based on aggregate and average deviations are 3m, 4m, 6m, 1m, and 3m for the formulas of Smalian, Huber, Newton, Bruce, and Bereton respectively. By considering the practical and accurancy factors. Newton's formula was chosen to estimate athe volume of Palaquium lobbanium Burck., with the optimum length of log section is 6m.
