Pemanfaatan kulit buah mahoni (Swietenia macrophylla) sebagai bahan pestisida nabati guna mengendalikan hama perusak daun

A sstudy aimed at examining the efficacy of mahagony fruit peel (MFP) as flora pesticide to control leaf damaging pests was carried out at Forest and Natural Conservation Research and Development Centre, Bogor from 2000 - 2001. Various forms of MFP pesticide formulations including boiling, soaking in hot and cold water, extracting and fermenting were applied to Eurema sp. and Eumeta sp. in the laboratory and glass house trials, respectively. Extract MFP form caused immediate 100 percent mortality response of Eurema sp. llarvae at 1 day after spraying treatment in the laboraaatory. The only form used for glass house trial on bagworm Eumeta sp., fermented MFP, showed ongiong increased mortality renponse and reached 100 percent at 14 days after spraying. Methods of pesticide formulation affected the final contents of pesticideal active ingredients whereas storage time might change the ppm concentrations.
