Perbandingan rumus-rumus empiris dalam pendugaan volume dolok keruing (Dipterocarpus spp.)
A database of measurements of 130 logs from keruing trees (Dipterocarpus spp.) in the forest area in Sampit, Central Kalimantan was used to compare the performance of formulas, namely the Newton, Huber, Smalian, Bereton, Bruce, Patterson, and Centroiod for estimating the log volume. The aim of this research was to obtain the best empirical formula for estimating the log volume of keruing based on the accuracy and precision. The results indicated that the Centroid formula showed the lowest bias as well as smaller tolerance interval that those of others. From the tree formulas shich apply measurement of log diameter at each end of the log, namely the large and small end diameters, the Bereton formula was more accurate and precise than that of the Smalian and Bruce. Further, a corrrelation analysis indicated that therre was a significant relationship between the large end diameter and bias in estimating the log volume.
