Keberadaan mikorisa asli setempat di hutan rawa gambut pasca kebakaran, Tumbang Nusa, Kalimantan Tengah
Rehabilitation measures in burnt peat swamp forest are facing many constraints. Low soil fertility and acidic soil reaction caused the slow growth of plants. Microorganisms utilization such as mycorrhiza is needed to maintain the survival and increrase growth of plants. A preliminary study is needed to determine the presence of mycorrhizal propagules in a burnt peat swamp forest and determine its possibilities to be utilized as biofertilizer. The aims of this research are: 1) To explore, collect and identify indigenous mycorrhizal propagules in a burnt peat swamp forest and 2) To determine its possibility to be utilized as biofertillizer. Methods used in this research were : 1) soil sample collection from 2 different site quality (Good and Bad). This is determined by measuring growth performance of plants where soils were collected, 2) isolation of VAM spores with 'Dry Sieving Method', its identification and number of spore counting, 3) ectomycorrhizal effectiveness to infect plants with 'Bait Method'. The result indicated that endomicorrhizal spores were countained in all examined soil and all were Glomus. The number of spores in good sites (A1&A2) were 36 abd 108 spores (125 u mesh) and 48 and 360 spores per 100 g soil (75 u mesh). As for bad sites (B1&B2) were 16 and 52 spores (125 u smesh) and 128 and 592 sppores per 100g soil (75 u smesh). While the infection percentage of ectmycorrhizal propagules were 70 percent and 60 percent for good sites. As for bad sites, ectmycorrhizal percentage were 10 percent and 0 percent. There were two types of ectmycorrhizal infection:a) well developed ectmycorrhiza with thick mantle and 2) non developed ectmycorrhiza showed thin and sparse hyphae. Due to lack of fruiting bodies in the study area, the identification of ectmycorrhiza has not been conducted yet. Due to the results, mycorrhiza utilization as biofertilizer is needed for seedlings planted in a burnt peat swamp forest.
