Pertumbuhan Acacia mangium dari kebun benih semai di Riam Kiwa, Kalimantan selatan
This research aims to examine genetic potential of the acacia mangium Willd, seed first generation (F-1) from several seedling seed orchards in Wonogiri (Central Java), Pendopo (South Sumatera), Pelaihari (South Kalimantan), Parung Panjang (West Java), and 2 seed sources from local stand at Subanjeriji (South Sumatera) and Riam Kiwa (South Kalimantan). The research was started in February 2002 at Riam Kiwa, South Kalimantan. The experiment was arranged in Randomly Complete Block Design (RCBD) with szuare plot consisting of 10 x 10 treeplots with 5 replications and 4 x 2 m tree espacing. Total height, stem diameter, survival rate, multiple stem and stem form were measured in 1 , 4 and 12 months after planting. The result in 12 months indicated that Acacia mangium from seedling seed orchard generally showed better growth and survival performance than local stad (Subanjeriji and Riam Kiwa). The best groweth was performed by Pelaihari seedling seed orchard (Group A) for height growth (3.90 m) and Wonogiri for diameter at breast height (3.556 cm) and tree volume growth (0.00202 m cubic).
