Dampak penurunan diameter tebang terhadap kerusakan tegakan tinggal dan keterbukaan lahan pada areal HPH di Papua
Some management of HPH in Papua have got permission to decrease the limit diameter of cutting trees resulting more amount of trees cut away which more affect to the number of damaged trees at log over area. This research aim to know the impact decreasing of diameter cutting limit to residual stand damages and ground exposure at three HPH PT Tunas Sawaerma (TSE). PT Bade Makmur Orisa (BMO) in Merauke and PT. Risana Indah Forest Industries (RIFI) in Jayapura. Measurement and perception to residual stand damages to be done after and before activity of hewing covering stand amount 10 cm up. amount of tree cut away damage type and ground exposure. The result indicated there are such a great difference percentage of residual stand damages and ground exposure at third HPH area. Percentage of residual stand damages that happened at HPH PT TSE that is equal to 25.50 percent. at HPH PT BMO equal to 31.20 percent and PT RIFI equal to 33,21 percent. The biggest ground exposure happened at HPH PT TSE that is equal to 17.94 percent or for the width of 1, 794 m3/ha compared to HPH PT BMO equal to 12.82 percent or for the width of 1.282 m2 ha and HPH PT RIFI equal to 11, 77 percent or for the width of 1.177 m2/ha. To lessen residual stand damagesand ground suggested that to be conducted by planning and controlling skidding.
