Profil keanekaragaman dan struktur flora pohon hutan lindung unung Ungaran, Jawa Tengah
The Mount Ungaran Protection Forest in Central Java, was selected for this research. The research was to describe the profile of the floristic characteristic of the area including tree flora composition and vegetation structure. Within the area, three transects of 10 m width with the total length of 100 m ( 10 x 100 m) in three altitudinal gradient ( 1100 - 1150 m, 1250 - 1300 m, and 1400 - 1450 m). In each altitude three transects (10 x 100 m) was made. Number of species, tree height to first branch, diameter at breast height, crown depth, and crown diameter were recorded in eight sample plots each (0,1 ha). All trees ten cm or more in diameter were recorded in each plot. Based on the altitude, stratification in the forest 21 tree species, 18 genera and 15 families were recorded (1100 - 1150 m asl.), 25 tree species, 22 genera and 19 families (1250-1300 m al.), and 1400 - 1450 m al. were 25 tree species, 21 genera and 18 families. Three variables of profile characteristic were analyzed to determine the vegetation along altitudinal gradient changes. The area was dominated by Ficus glabella Blume (IV = 29,23), Acrocarpus fraxinifolius Wight (IV = 23,49), and Persea odoratissima Kosterm (IV = 20,04) ( 1100 - 1150 m dpl), A. fraxinifolius Wight (IV = 42,91), Eugenia densiflora Duthie (IV = 34,16), P. odoratissima Kosterm (IV = 26,22), and Lithocarpus elegans H.et S (IV = 26,07) (1250 - 1300 m al), L. elegans H.et S (IV = 27,75), P. odoratissima Kosterm (IV = 22,69), Castanopsis argentea Blume (IV = 19,22), and A. fraxinifolius Wight (IV = 19,14) (1400 - 1450 m dpl). The stratification of the tree flora community in the Mount Ungaran Protection Forest consisted mainly of three strata. The highest stratum was between 15 to 20 m high. However, few emergent trees can be 25 m tall or more with 45 to 75 cm diameter, i.e. L. elegans, E. clavimyrtus, and F. glabella.
