Komposisi dan struktur tegakan hutan bekas terbakar di Berau, Kalimantan Timur
This research was carried out at the area of Inhutani Company Unit I, Berau Labanan, East Kalimantan. It aimed at studying tropical rain forest standing stock after 3 years development of the burned over forest. Stratified technique sampling method was used. The total sampling area consisted of 3 collective sampling area, covering an area 1,000 m length and 20 m width. Samples for study were taken at the primary forest and burned over forest. The result of this research indicated that the standing stock development of the burned over forest was the highest for seedling, sapling, poles and trees was 20.430 N/ha, 3.150 N/ha, 380 N/ha and 92 N/ha respectively. The dominance species in the burned over forest for seedling, sapling, poles and trees were Shorea spp., Eusideroxylon zwageri, Shorea spp. and Macaranga maingayi respectively. While the primary forest the dominance species for seedling, sapling, poles and trees were Shorea spp., Eusideroxylon zwageri, Shorea spp. and Eusideroxylon zwageri respectively. Diameter class distribution of 20 - 29 cm for the stand number/ha in primary forest and burned over forest were 51 trees/ha and 31 trees/ha respectively. For the diameter class distribution of 30 - 39 cm in primary forest and burned over forest were 19 trees/ha and 38 trees/ha respectively. Diameter class distribution of 40 - 49 cm in primary forest and burned over forest were 21 trees/ha and 11 trees/ha successively. While for the diameter class distribution of 50 cm the stand number in primary forest and burned over forest were 39 trees/ha and 21 trees/ha successively. Density of seedlings, saplings, poles in the primary forest was lower than burned over forest, except to trees that were higher in primary forest than that burned over forest.
