Penggunaan model taper untuk menduga volume batang pohon jenis matoa (Pometia pinnata) di Halmahera, Maluku
The most important phase in modelling taper curve is presented. A simple cuadratic model, which has shown to be accurate and efficient taper curve model for the whole stem, is also described. This model is based on the observation that relative diameters at relative heights along the stem do not vary very much in respect to tree size. Typically, taper equations predict diameter, d, at any point on the tree bole from diameter at breast height, D, total height, H, and the height, h, at which d occurs. Equation coefficients are estimated from measurements of 50 trees of the matoa (Pometia pinnata Forst.) species in the region of Halmahera, Maluku using linear statistical methods and the least square criterion. Volume in cubic meters for any portion of the stem is obtained by integration.
