Keragaman Jenis Dipterokarpa dan Potensi Pohon Penghasil Minyak Keruing di Hutan Dataran Rendah Kabupaten Berau, Kalimantan Timur = Species Diversity of Dipterocarps and Potential of Oil-Producing Keruing Tree Species in Lowland Forest at Berau Rregency,

ABSTRACT. The dipterocarps lowland forest in Berau regency has high tree species diversity, mainly Dipterocarpaceae and consists of some genus that have high potency trees as non timber forest products species. One of these tree species produce natural oil, which locally called as keruing (Dipterocarpus). The purpose of this research is to present of species diversity of dipterocarps and information on the potential of oil-producing keruing tree species in Hutan Sanggam Labanan Lestari concession. The research method is used with transect system with 40 m width by 1,000 m length (4 ha). The observation was conducted to all of trees with diameter equal or larger than 10 cm. The research results showed that the research plot has high dipterocarps species diversity. This results based on analysis of Shannon-Wiener index diversity (H'=3.89026) and there were four keruing species found, i.e. Dipterocarpus tempehes V.Sl. (37 trees), D. palembanicus Slooten (3 trees), D. humeratus Slooten (1 tree) and Dipterocarpus sp. (3 trees). The average density of oil-producing keruing tree species is 11 stems/ha, and the average volume of keruing stand is 33,19m3/ha. These results provide information about species diversity and potential of oil-producing keruing trees species which can give benefit for the communities around the forest.

ABSTRAK. Hutan dataran rendah yang berada di wilayah Kabupaten Berau memiliki keanekaragaman jenis pohon yang sangat tinggi, terutama Dipterocarpaceae. Suku Dipterocarpaceae memiliki marga yang mempunyai potensi yang sangat besar sebagai hasil hutan bukan kayu (HHBK) salah satu diantaranya adalah Dipterocarpus (keruing). Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui keragaman jenis dipterokarpa dan potensi pohon keruing sebagai penghasil minyak keruing di PT. Hutan Sanggam Labanan Lestari, Kabupaten Berau. Metode yang digunakan adalah sistem jalur dengan panjang 1 km dan lebar kanan-kiri jalur masing-masing 20 m (total luas 4 ha). Pengamatan dilakukan terhadap semua individu pohon yang berdiameter 10 cm dan ke atas. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan keragaman untuk jenis dipterokarpa cukup tinggi yang ditunjukkan dengan nilai Indeks Keragaman jenis (H'=3,89026) yang terdiri dari 7 marga dan 26 jenis dipterokarpa. Sedangkan untuk jenis keruing diperoleh sebanyak 4 jenis dengan jumlah individu sebanyak 44 pohon yang terdiri dari Dipterocarpus tempehes V.Sl.(37 pohon), D. palembanicus Slooten (3 pohon), D. humeratus Slooten (1 pohon) dan Dipterocarpus sp. (3 pohon). Kerapatan pohon keruing sebanyak 11 batang/ha dengan volume rata-rata tegakan sebesar 33,19 m3/ha. Hasil ini diharapkan dapat memberikan informasi tentang keragaman jenis dipterokarpa dan potensi jenis pohon penghasil minyak keruing yang dapat memberikan manfaat terhadap masyarakat di sekitar hutan.
