Studi On Bamboo Weaving Small Medium Industry Resources AreaManagement At Moyudan Sleman
ABSTRACT
Small Medium Industries of bamboo-craft is one of economic-valued handicraft sector and an icon of Sleman Regency. Despite to their simple technology, the products are unique and attractive both to domestic and foreign markets such as Europe, Australia, Malaysia and Japan. Sub district SMI is available choice to fulfill live-needs and the demands of increasing job avalability. Previously, local raw material was utilized for bamboo-craft in SMI, however the increasing demand led-to material imported from other regencis and provinces. The declining quality of material was one of consequences of imported material, such as low quality of bamboo caused by the irregular harvesting season. The imported bamboo was prone to post powder beetle attack. Several efforts to cultivate bamboo were conducted: agroforestry system, returning bamboo as ? the tree of life?, and discussion about industries policy on bamboo. The study described the strategy of Bamboo‘s management in Moyudan, Sleman Regency. The result of the research are that it has to (1) Absolutely cultivate by considering benefits, externalities, dynamics, markets, and social constraints (2) Maintenance effort (giving the rope, fertilization) bamboo should be conducted so its existence is no longer regarded as a plant that damages the house (3) Change the mindset and promotion on bamboo in order to re-plant it and use no longer consider it as a nuisance plant (4) Bamboo for the industry around Moyudan Sleman is not only supplied by Sleman supplier. Regarding the case, the policies of inter-regional trade system of bamboo are needed to maintain the raw material demands.
